  4. Measuring , Marking and Striking Tools; types and preparation cables – Practical application of measuring instruments
  5. Measuring , Marking and Striking Tools; types and preparation cables – types and uses of marking and striking tools (e.g scriber, punch)
  6. Measuring , Marking and Striking Tools; types and preparation cables – types and preparation of cables
  7. Working Drawing – Electrical symbols (switches, lamp holders, socket outlets, cooker control unit etc)
  8. Working Drawing – working diagram scale and position of accessories on a drawing
  9. Working Drawing – electrical accessories (e.g lamp holder, ceiling rose, joint box etc)

TERM 2:

  3. Working Drawing – clips, nail drill.  Current rating of a cable, diversity
  4. Working Drawing – factors affecting current rating of a cable (e.g. Type of conductor, ambient temperature, type of excess current protection etc)
  5. Conduit wiring – piping.  Wiring
  6. Conduit wiring – fittings. Types of conduit wiring (surface, conceal)
  7. Installation of protective devices – protective devices (fuses, circuit breakers, voltage and current operated)
  8. Installation of protective – working principles and applications of fuses and circuit breakers
  9. Installation of protective – current rating of a fuse, fusing current and earthing
  10. Revision for Examination

TERM 3:

  1. IEE regulations covering earthing and protective devices, voltage and current earth leakage circuit breakers
  2. Danger in electrical workshop – dangers arising as a result of (1)i. portable equipments and tools ii. Effectiveness of earth continuity
  3. Danger in electrical workshop – dangers arising as a result of (2) temporary insulations [i] use of cable without mechanical protection [ii] cable run over sharp edges etc
  4. Danger in electrical workshop – dangers arising as a result of – (3) other sources of dangers e.g [i] unprotected electric heaters [ii] over-loaded or over fused cable, particularly flexes
  5. Danger in electrical workshop – dangers arising as a result of – (4) Points of danger for the electrician e.g burns, falls, ladders, aluminium, ladders
  6. Danger in electrical workshop – dangers arising as a result of – (5) strains and moving machinery
